Tour 8

Southwest of France

A tour very little known by the general public but one of our favorites, because it has everything.
From 7 to 13 days
April - October
Roads
Landscapes
Weather
Monuments
Gastronomy

This tour is practically our exclusive. No motorcycle tour company offers a tour of this area, probably because for the general public both the Pyrenees and Provence are much better known and therefore more saleable areas. But precisely the fact that this area is much unknown to the general public is what gives value to this tour, which also has a bit of everything.

On the biker side, the tour is simply fabulous, with fantastic secondary roads, well paved, and totally full of curves, as there are 8,228 curves on the basic route, averaging over 1,000 curves per day.

In terms of landscapes, this tour has a bit of everything, coast, forests, high mountains at its crossing of the Pyrenees, mid-mountain in several areas and many roads in gorges. In fact, this last aspect is the one that most characterizes this tour, the enormous presence of Balcony roads, which are roads that run through canyons, bordering the river that they create and generally excavated in the rock, hence its name from "balcony roads". What characterizes these types of roads is that they are generally very pretty.

About accommodation, on this tour we can offer you some really exceptional hotels, many of them castles, but in France these types of hotels are much more expensive than in Spain, so we can also adjust to your budget.

It is not a very monumental trip, but you will still have the opportunity to visit cities like Carcassone, which has one of the most important medieval citadels in Europe and throughout the trip you will also be able to visit interesting places, and beautiful villages.

In the gastronomic aspect, the tour offers the highest level, since in addition to being in France, practically all the stages have been planned based on having a high-level restaurant near the hotel. So if you like haute cuisine, this tour is ideal for you.

303km 6:34h 1141 curves
5 Alternatives routes from 5:48h until 2:37h

This last stage runs entirely along the sea, but not along just any coast, but along the Costa Brava, one of the most beautiful coasts.

Extension A

Stopover in Albi

A stopover in Albi will allow you to enter the Parc Naturel du Haut Languedoc, and explore its many mountain passes. In addition, including this stopover, it divides the long stage from Carcassone to Rocamadour in two, and although the stopover extends the trip, the daily route is reduced.

Extension B

Stopover in Lezoux

Including this stopover in Lezoux will allow you to get to know the Livradois-Forez Nature Park, which has beautiful roads. On the other hand, including this stopover, it divides the long stage from Rocamadour and Chaudes Aigues into two, and although the stopover extends the trip, the daily route is reduced.

Extension C

Excursion in Causse Mejean

The excursion in Causse Mejean, which starts from Sainte Enimie, is highly recommended, as the roads of the Cevennes National Park are beautiful. On the other hand, this excursion will allow you to enjoy one more day at the Sainte Enime hotel.

Extension D

Rest day in Carcassonne

Carcassone is one of the most touristic cities in France, since its medieval town is fantastic, so it is a very appropriate place to include a day of rest.

Extension E

Rest day in Perpignan

If you want to spend a day at the beach or golf, Perpignan is the right place on this trip, as it has good beaches and several golf courses. This day of rest can also be planned in Montpellier.

Z

Fuel management planning
