Possibly the Pyrenees is the best high mountain area for motorcycle riding in all of Europe, and to say this when the Alps are also in Europe is saying a lot, and you may think that being Spanish leads us to exaggeration, but we will give several reasons for you to see that this is not the case.

The main reason is that the roads of the Pyrenees are very similar to the roads of the Alps, but they have much less traffic, which will allow us to enjoy the motorcycle much more without having to continually deal with the hundreds of cars and buses circulating on the alpine roads.

The second reason is that the roads in the Pyrenees, especially those on the Spanish side, are better and in better condition than those on the Alpine passes.

And the third reason, but not least, is that both the gastronomic and hotel standards of the Pyrenees are much higher than that of the Alps.

On the other hand, it is true that this tour does not offer the mythical alpine passes such as the Stelvio, nor roads as unique as the Passo san Boldo, and that in that sense the Alps have no rival in the world, but that is precisely what causes the great influx of tourists that collapses the roads, something that does not happen in the Pyrenees.

One of the main characteristics of this tour is that it has an astonishing number of curves, as this tour offers 9,365 curves on the basic 7-day route that averages 1,338 curves per day. Therefore, as you can imagine, it is not a tour for novice pilots.

In the landscape aspect, you can already imagine that we are talking about high mountain landscapes, which in sunny areas are wooded and in shady areas they are pastures where you will see a lot of cattle. However, it is not a monumental tour since most of the destinations are small towns where there are hardly any monuments.

Therefore, if you are thinking of doing a high mountain tour, with the idea of having fun riding a motorcycle, and enjoying good hotels and restaurants, this tour is perfect for you.

Stage 2

Andorra →Vielha

335km 6:52h 1368 curves
6 Alternatives routes From 5:21h until 2:42h

This stage takes place practically entirely in French territory, but we return to sleep in Spain, taking advantage of its better hotel quality.

Stage 3

Vielha →Bielsa

376km 6:19h 1047 curves
6 Alternatives routes from 5:21h until 2:40h

Today's stage covers a very unknown area of the Catalan pre-Pyrenees to finish in the Aragon region and sleep in a beautiful place.

Stage 4

Bielsa →Panticosa

332km 7:34h 1942 curves
9 Alternatives routes from 7:06h until 2:14h

We return to French territory to tour the Pyrenees National Park. Also, if you wish, you will have the opportunity to visit the sanctuary of Lourdes.

Stage 5

Panticosa →Pamplona

356km 7:02h 1383 curves
9 Alternatives routes from 6:47h until 2:17h

This stage re-enters French territory to return to Spain through the Irati Forest, one of the most beautiful places in the Pyrenees.

Stage 6

Pamplona →Lérida

395km 6:45h 1151 curves
9 Alternatives routes from 6:11h until 3:18h.

We start the return to Barcelona traveling the best roads in the pre-Pyrenean areas of Navarra, Aragon and Catalonia.

Stage 7

Lérida →Barcelona

286km 5:47h 1148 curves
8 Alternative routes from 5:18 h. to 1:52h.

Lleida and Barcelona are very close, but we have diverted the route to enjoy the fantastic roads of the Prades mountains.

Extension A

Detour to Sos del Rey Católico

Extension B

Stopover in Boltaña

Extension C

Detour to Tortosa

Diverting the route to Tortosa will allow you to explore the Prades mountains in all its depth, one of the best areas for motorcycle riding in Spain. This extension can be included alone or combined with the extension of the detour to Cardona, without repeating a single km of road.

Extension D

Detour to Cardona

Diverting the route to Cardona will allow you to travel the excellent Catalan secondary roads in the first stage from to Barcelona. When you ride on them, you understand why in Catalonia there is so much love for motorcycling.

Extension E

Excursion in Andorra

The excursion in Andorra covers absolutely ALL the roads of the principality, going up to all its peaks. It is a bit of a strange route, going up and down six different mountains, but it is a lot of fun, because the roads are excellent and the views are impressive.

Extension F

Detour to San Sebastián

If you are fond of gastronomy, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit San Sebastián, (the city with the most Michelin stars per inhabitant in the world), which, in addition, will give you the opportunity to travel fantastic roads, some of them bordering the coastline by beautiful cliffs.

Extension G

Excursion to Biarritz

And if you have diverted the route to San Sebastián, a single night will know little, so it would be highly recommended to add a second night. This would give you the opportunity to take an excursion to Biarritz, the favorite vacation spot of the European aristocracy in the 19th century.
